About

Muscular History covers stories from the pages of history and mythology. We examine epic battles, the rise and fall of great civilizations, and the deeds of great men and women.

What is muscular history?

In the mid-19th century, there was a movement beginning in the UK called “Muscular Christianity.” This movement began when church leaders noticed that many men were losing interest in the Christian religion. They concluded that to fight against this trend, they had to present religion in a way that would hold more appeal to men. They would emphasize heroic deeds and the virtues of competition and self-improvement. I have decided to do the same to history. My take on history focuses on epic narratives and the exploits of heroes. Despite the inspiration, I do not intend Muscular History to have a religious slant. I am an atheist myself. I want my presentation of world history to be relevant and appealing to everyone, regardless of faith. I invite you to take a look at Muscular History and I hope you find it both enjoyable and educational.
